About the role

Sandy's in Kaka Point, Otago is seeking a talented part-time Chef to join our team, this is to act as cover for our full time chef, days off and holidays and assist in busy periods. As a Chef at Sandy's, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dine in meals & takeaways for our valued customers in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef or ambitious cook looking to grow their skills and contribute to the success of a thriving local business.

What you'll be doing

1. Preparing and cooking a variety of meals from our diverse menu, ensuring consistent high quality and presentation
2. Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations
3. Collaborating with the front-of-house team to deliver exceptional customer service
4. Assisting with menu planning and development to keep our offerings fresh and appealing
5. Providing training and guidance to junior kitchen staff as required
6. Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies to support efficient kitchen operations

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Chef, with a strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation
2. Passion for creating delicious, high-quality meals and a commitment to using fresh, seasonal ingredients
3. Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to thrive in a fast-paced environment
4. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with front-of-house staff
5. Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain a positive attitude
6. Food safety and hygiene certification or willingness to obtain
