What we do

Lumbr supplies fuel-grade wood chips to commercial heat users such as hospitals, rest homes, schools, hotels and businesses using heat as part of manufacturing processes. Our clients buy our products as they are cost effective and helps them become more sustainable by using a fully renewable fuel, grown locally. Over the last 15 years, we have built up a reputation around offering a high-quality fuel that comes with reliable service and innovative support systems. We source logs from a range of forestry companies around Otago, season and chip the logs, then screen and deliver the wood chips using our own and others’ trucks. Importantly, we operate high-end plant and equipment and pride ourselves on having the best systems in the market to support an outstanding client experience.

Where we are

Lumbr operates from a large wood processing site, adjacent to State Highway 1 at the southern end of Milton, Otago. This 1.3 hectare property has a large chip storage capacity and a log seasoning yard. Located within the heart of Otago forestry, we service clients in Dunedin, Central Otago and South Otago from this site.

The role

We are looking for a hands-on and versatile team member with a “can-do” work ethic to join our small Milton team in a 6-month contract capacity and help us grow our business.

You will be:

• operating a range of materials handling equipment at the yard in Milton, including a telehandler, log loader, wood chip dryer, log splitter and industrial log chipper; and
• assisting with day-to-day maintenance of plant, property and machinery.

With our business being strongly seasonal and weighted towards winter, the role is a contract role covering the April to September period (6 months), with a minimum number of weekly hours of 40.
