Business Support Manager

Due to internal promotion, we’re looking for a grounded and capable leader with strong finance capability, proven leadership experience, and a solid understanding of the rural sector.

If you’re confident with numbers, comfortable leading people, and understand how rural operations actually run, this role will suit you down to the ground.


About the Role

Based in Heriot, this role leads our Business Support Team at RTL, supporting both accounting and operational functions. It’s a mix of hands-on financial oversight and practical team leadership.

You’ll help keep our internal numbers accurate, our month-end running smoothly, and our day-to-day support consistent across the business.  Most importantly, you’ll lead and support a team responsible for the backbone of our financial and operational processes.  Reporting to the Finance and Partnership Lead, this role sits at the centre of the business — working closely with Dispatch, Management, and Suppliers.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and supporting the Business Support Team to deliver accurate, timely work
  • Overseeing financial processing, reconciliations, and month-end routines
  • Reviewing internal costing and allocations across branches, fleet, and cost centres
  • Supporting operational reporting, asset tracking, and compliance requirements
  • Strengthening systems and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Ensuring financial information is reliable and ready for decision-making

What You Must Bring

  • Strong finance capability — confident with reconciliations, allocations, and month-end processes
  • Proven leadership experience, including leading or supporting a small team
  • Rural sector knowledge or experience
  • Confidence working alongside operational teams in a fast-paced environment 

Skills & Experience

  • Solid understanding of accounting processes and financial controls
  • Experience in finance, accounting support, or operational finance roles
  • Comfortable using Excel and accounting systems (MYOB Acumatica preferred)
  • Accounting Technician qualification (or working towards), or equivalent experience
