We’re on the hunt for an experienced, reliable, and motivated Full-Time Cook to join our busy kitchen team. If you’re a confident all-rounder who has experience in the kitchen and thrives in the hospitality environment we’d love to hear from you!

Position Details

Role: Full-Time Cook (30+ hours per week)
Location: The Catlins Café & Bakehouse Takeaways , 3 Main Road, Owaka
Pay Rate: $23.50 – $30.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)
Hours: Flexible roster including some weekends and evenings
Business Hours: Monday – Sunday, 8:00am – 8:00pm

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals to café and takeaway standards
• Ensure all dishes are presented consistently and to a high quality
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
• Assist in menu development, food prep, and stock control
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
• Support and collaborate with the café team to ensure smooth service
• Occasionally assist with baking and food prep for the front counter

Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated cooking experience in a café, restaurant, or takeaway setting for of least one year.
• Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage time well
• Positive attitude, reliability, and a genuine passion for food
• Baking or barista skills a bonus
