The Fern & Thistle is Balclutha’s only luxury accommodation, located in the magnificent 1914 villa Lesmahagow, built by sanitary ware “king pin” Peter McSkimming and named after his wife’s Scottish hometown. Set on 6,000m² of landscaped gardens overlooking Benhar, the feudal town the McSkimmings established in the late 1800s to support their factory operations.
