Morgan O'Shea Scaffolding

Morgan O’Shea Scaffolding supports South Otago building projects by providing safe, dependable scaffolding solutions. It’s a practical, team-based work environment with opportunities to learn new skills, gain qualifications, and build a career in the construction industry.

Morgan O’Shea Scaffolding is a South Otago-based business providing safe, reliable scaffolding solutions for a wide range of projects. Our team works across residential, commercial, and industrial sites, supporting builders, painters, and other trades by setting up the access they need to get the job done.

We provide the erection, hire, and dismantling of certified fixed scaffolding, safety nets, and mobile scaffolding. Our work plays an important role in keeping worksites safe and running smoothly.

Our story
Morgan O’Shea began as an engineering firm in the 1950s, with scaffolding introduced in the 1980s. In 2023, the business shifted its full focus to scaffolding, allowing us to specialise and continue building strong relationships across the region.

What it’s like to work here
We’re a locally rooted team that values the wellbeing of both our staff and our customers. The work is hands-on, varied, and often outdoors. No two days are the same—you might be working on a house build one day and a larger commercial project the next.

Health and safety is a big part of the job. Our team is trained to a high standard and works within national guidelines to ensure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.

Skills and qualities that help in this role

  • Good level of fitness and willingness to work outdoors
  • Strong awareness of safety and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Practical, hands-on approach to work
  • Reliability and a good work ethic

Training and opportunities
Scaffolding offers the chance to gain a range of industry-recognised qualifications. Our team includes ticketed scaffolders with training in:

  • Working at heights

  • Mobile elevated work platforms
  • First aid
  • Rigging, forklifts, and more

There are opportunities to grow your skills over time and take on more responsibility within the team.

How to get into it
A good starting point is to look for entry-level or labouring roles within scaffolding or construction. From there, you can work towards gaining scaffolding tickets and on-the-job training.

If you’re keen to work outdoors, enjoy practical work, and don’t mind heights, this could be a great pathway to explore.
