Blue Spur
Set on the eastern side of Gabriel's Gully Historic Reserve, Blue Spur is the site of one of the most noted mining settlements in the area. For four prosperous years, the town had a bustling downtown with two of every type of retail store. Despite the retailers moving onto Lawrence once the road was built south, the miners remained and until the 1920s the town was home to a mining company, a school, and a population of over 500. Stop here after completing the 2.4 kilometre Gabriel’s Gully interpretive walk to see the relics of an old butchers shop and former residence. For a welcomed nature break or picnic spot, stop at nearby Grey’s Dam.
