Thousands of visitors every year experience the 73-kilometre bike trail, the Clutha Gold.
Soak up the history of early Otago and witness the region’s stunning scenery as you wind along the Clutha Mata-au River. Explore the stunning riverside scenes of the Teviot Valley between Lake Roxburgh and Lawrence.
If you fancy an additional 4-6 hours of adventure, the trail links with the Roxburgh Gorge Trail. Soon, the trail is set to get even bigger and better, with the route being extended up to 136 kilometres all the way to Lake Waihola late 2023.
Afterwards, rest up in Lawrence, Otago’s original gold town. Stroll around this quaint spot with its proud history and wonderful architecture and follow in the steps of Chinese gold miners and pioneer settlers.
