Tides Getting Here Clutha Attractions

A sensational seaside village in the Catlins famous for its surfing, beaches and New Zealand’s most iconic lookout Nugget Point with its amazing views, historic lighthouse and wonderful wildlife. It's just a short drive from Balclutha.

Kaka Point settlement is named after the Kaka parrot and still has a slightly hidden beautiful bush walk. The most famous resident was Maori Poet Hone Tuwhare who spent many years living in an old fashioned crib. There is a brewery, fabulous function venue, plenty of places to stay and a pub by the beach for some tipple and tucker. You can even kayak around the breath-taking Nuggets, named by Captain Cook because with the sun shining on them, they looked like rocks of gold.

Locals love where they live, find out more at and check out the Catlins Care Code.
