Papatowai Summer
Races for children and a chocolate wheel
Excitement of the Big Dig
Families making giant sandcastles.
That's New Year's Eve here.
Later fireworks enhance the clear night sky
Skirl of bagpipes round the bonfire.

Around the bay surf is breaking
Oystercatchers cry at strange feet.
Perhaps there will be a seal on the rocks
Flounder in the estuary.
Across the river moahunters once camped.
Now the tuis delight in rata blooming red.
A lone kayak ripples the river
Summer to value
Like a precious jewel.

Thank you to everyone who entered the 'Capture Clutha' competition, what a beautiful district we live in!

We will be in touch with winners to collect their prizes.
