The Clutha District offers a variety of cycling and mountain biking trails for the avid cycling.
The Clutha District is home to one of the Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand, the Clutha Gold Cycling and Walking Trail. This 73 km grade 2 (easy) trail embraces Otago's rich goldmining history, all while following the Clutha River.
The current trail takes you between Lake Roxburgh and Lawrence, and is currently being extended through to Lake Waihola via Milton.
This intermediate grade mountain bike (and walking) track is a 17 km return journey through the slopes of the Waipori Valley.
Located on the banks of the Clutha River, this is a easy, single shared walking and cycling trail.
On the outskirts of Kaitangata, you will find this 15 km easy-grade loop track which takes you around the Lake Tuakitoto wetland. You will find a variety of native birds along the way.
