Fern & Thistle is looking for a reliable, hands-on Permanent Part-Time Manager / Housekeeper to join us at our historic accommodation and events property in Benhar.

This is not a casual position. We are looking for someone who can take real responsibility for the day-to-day running and presentation of the property while also being prepared to roll up their sleeves and help with housekeeping.

The role includes 2 rostered manager days per week, along with additional paid hours for housekeeping, cleaning, guest support, room preparation, and other property duties as required.

Weekend availability is an important part of this role, with a significant amount of weekend work required, particularly during our busy summer and autumn periods.

About the Role

This is a varied and fast-paced position combining property management, guest services, and hands-on housekeeping. No two days will necessarily look the same, so we need someone who is organised, practical and confident managing their own workload.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing the property on your rostered manager days
• Cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, shared areas, and event spaces
• Making beds and preparing rooms for guest arrivals
• Ensuring rooms and the wider property are presented to a high standard
• Managing guest communication, check-ins, enquiries, and requests
• Supporting housekeeping schedules, supplies, and stock
• Assisting with events, whole-house bookings, and special requests
• Prioritising tasks and responding to issues as they arise
• Helping with general property duties wherever required

We're Looking for Someone Who Is:

• Extremely reliable, trustworthy, and honest
• Comfortable taking responsibility and working independently
• Experienced in a fast-paced working environment
• An excellent time manager who can prioritise and juggle multiple tasks
• Hands-on and happy to move between managing and housekeeping duties
• Friendly, professional, and confident dealing with guests
• Practical, organised and a good communicator
• Able to maintain high standards, even during busy periods
• Flexible and available for regular weekend work, particularly over summer and autumn
• Ideally based in Balclutha or within approximately 10 minutes' drive of Benhar
• Experienced in accommodation, hospitality, housekeeping, cleaning, or a similar role – management experience would be an advantage

Hours & Pay

• Permanent part-time position
• 2 rostered manager days per week
• Additional paid hours available for housekeeping and other duties
• Regular weekend work will be required
• Pay based on experience and level of responsibility
