Services Team Leader

Te Tūranga / About the Role

As an Environmental / Services Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for the continuous, reliable, and safe operation of all site services at Finegand Silver Fern Farms. This role plays a critical part in ensuring essential services; including boilers, refrigeration, wastewater, and water treatment all run smoothly to support our processing operations.

You’ll lead a skilled team, oversee planned and unplanned maintenance activities, and ensure our environmental and engineering compliance obligations are consistently met. Your leadership will help drive asset reliability, minimise downtime, and support a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the site.

This is a full-time, onsite position where no two days will be the same, perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic operational environment.

Ōu Pūkenga / About You

We’re looking for a hands-on, organised leader who can balance technical expertise with strong people management skills. You bring:

• A trade qualification or engineering background
• Experience in maintenance planning or services operations (e.g., boilers, refrigeration, wastewater, or water treatment)
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Proven leadership capability, with the ability to train, coach, and develop staff
• Solid computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and database systems
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
• Your ability to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and external contractors will be key to success in this role.

Ngā Kawenga / What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Leading and developing the Services team
• Managing planned and reactive maintenance activities
• Ensuring asset reliability and safe operation of site services
• Monitoring compliance with environmental consents and engineering standards
• Overseeing sampling, auditing, reporting, and external council communication
• Managing budgets, workload allocation, timesheets, training, and rosters
• Supporting project planning and execution
• Driving continuous improvement and contributing to root cause analysis
• Managing contractor activities and shutdown planning
