Dairy Farm Assistant - Dunns Dairy

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a practical, varied role where you’ll build strong foundations and develop your skills while working as part of a collaborative and supportive team.

You’ll be assisting with everything from milking and calving through to feeding stock, spraying and general farm work. Alongside this, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the systems and skills that come with working on a progressive farm - including shed and animal health management.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys being hands-on, has a genuine interest in farming, and is keen to grow their career in an environment that encourages learning and shared responsibility.

You’ll be provided with high-quality PPE and supported by a strong health and safety culture, working with well-maintained, up-to-date farm equipment.

This is a drive-in/drive out position, we’d happily look at part-time options.

ABOUT US

Pāmu Landcorp Farming Limited is a State-Owned Enterprise with over 110 farms across New Zealand. Our purpose is to lead the delivery of innovative and sustainable agriculture solutions for future generations.

THE FARM

Located just five minutes from Balclutha, we milk 680 cows using a 50-bail rotary with ACRs and Milk Hub.

Dunns is a 270ha effective property, we have modern facilities including good machinery (stay warm and dry using side by sides for bringing cows in). 

We currently have a 5:2 roster.

Dunns Dairy is part of a the Waitepeka Dairy complex which includes one other dairy farm and a dairy support farm, all in proximity of one another.

ABOUT YOU

You will have a positive attitude and good foundational dairy farm experience or willingness to learn looking to develop and grow your dairy career, while we prefer some familiarity with farming and farm equipment, it’s not essential – we can train you.

You will bring:

• Positive, proactive attitude

• Commitment to Health & Safety protocols as well as the highest Animal Welfare standards

• Pride in your work and your team

• A current New Zealand driver’s licence

You enjoy being hands-on, take pride in doing things well, and are keen to keep learning and building your capability on-farm. You’re comfortable taking responsibility for your work, while also valuing collaboration and open communication with the wider team.
