Three Waters Operations Manager

We are on the lookout for an experienced Water Operations Manager to join our team based in Balclutha.

Technically, the work provides great opportunities across the Three Waters of water, wastewater and stormwater. Our water reticulation network is one of the very largest in New Zealand, whilst our water and wastewater treatment facilities span conventional water treatment plants and basic wastewater ponds to complex membrane-based processes for both water and wastewater treatment, along with conventional stormwater assets.

Reporting to the Head of Three Waters, you’ll also be managing operations staff and budgets, operational contracts and capital and other key projects, providing regular update reports to Council on Three Waters activities and liaising with suppliers, contractors, stakeholders and regulators.

You’ll be responsible for our Three Waters assets, including compliance with associated drinking water standards and resource consents. You’ll work closely with Council’s Capital Delivery and Infrastructure Strategy teams to develop capital upgrades in our programme of planned works.

This role provides fantastic learning and development opportunities in this critical service for the well-being of our communities and the environment.  It is an opportunity to have input and help shape water services for the district into the future.

What you will have:

• A civil engineering degree (or equivalent)
• At least 10 years’ experience of working in the Three Waters environment.
• Experience of staff management and asset management.
• Experience of Local Authority processes would be advantageous.
