Kaka Point, known locally as 'KP' is named after the South Island parrot. It is a charming seaside village with sweeping sandy beaches, and one The Catlins top surfing spots.

You can see in the distance the spectacular spur with the famous rock formations that spill out into the horizon, known as Nugget Point

It is an amazing place where the skies meet the seemingly endless ocean. Wander out to the old lighthouse perched at the end of this panoramic natural platform.

This iconic headland is a great place to view the wonderful wildlife. It is one of the only places you can see fur seals, elephant seals and sea lions all at once. You may also spot The World's smallest penguins, as well as the rarest, along with the smallest dolphins on the planet.

Around the corner is Roaring bay, which has a hidden hut where you can get a good view of the endangered yellow-eyed penguins. The best time to see these creatures are dawn or dusk.

If you are looking for a different perspective, how about kayaking around the rocks below the famous lighthouse? Local business operator Jared will take you on a tour with Catlins Kayak and Adventure.

The star studded skies must be mentioned, the milky way so clear it defies belief, and when the stars align, there is a chance of seeing the Southern Lights

If you would like to get in touch with nature, there is a hidden bush walk behind Kaka Point.

There is a pub and restaurant in Kaka Point, a variety of accommodation options as well as a brewery! There is plenty to see and do in this seaside village.
