Tides Getting Here Clutha Attractions

“Here in Clutha, there are endless opportunities to get out and about and enjoy yourself, no matter what you’re into. We love our sport and are passionate about recreation!”

The great outdoors are on our doorstep, with amazing walks, kayaking, surfing, cycling, fishing and hunting all here in Clutha.

We are a short distance from Central Otago’s skifields and cycle trails with of course the Clutha Gold going through Lawrence.

Our towns have everything from sports fields to playgrounds, halls to libraries, to swimming pools with Balclutha, Tapanui, Milton, Lawrence and Owaka all having their own pools.

Balclutha is home to the award-winning Cross Recreation Centre with its Powernet Sports Arena which houses a gym, netball, basketball, hockey, gymnastics, tennis and so much more! Check out the Cross Centre for more info.

Team sports are a big thing for our communities, with rugby, netball, cricket, football, hockey, touch rugby and more.

If golf is more your thing then you are also in luck. Tapanui and Balclutha have great 18 hole courses. While Owaka, Lawrence, Waitahuna, Heriot and Clydevale all have lovely little 9 hole courses.

Indoor activities range from squash, badminton, indoor bowls and darts, to music and dance.

Throughout Clutha, creative clubs, artists, galleries, craft shops, and museums can be found.

Clutha is all about its people as the wealth of proactive community groups clearly shows. If you want to do your bit then check out the range of opportunities on the Clutha App for both apple and android.
