Fixed Term – 12 months   (28 hrs p/week)

The Salvation Army aims to care for people, transform lives and reform society through God, in Christ by the Holy Spirit’s power.  We offer practical services including social support, Lifeskills programmes, Drug and Alcohol counselling,  and a community food bank. The Family Store supports this mission by raising funds through the sale of donated goods. This position will be a key role within the organisation as ‘the face of The Salvation Army’ in the community.


We are looking for a special someone who not only enjoys driving but also has the ability to deliver excellent customer service.

About the Role

  • Based in Balclutha, you will be responsible for the collection & delivery of goods in Balclutha & Milton, and further afield when required.
  • You will assist in the Family Stores with displays, and moving of larger items.
  • You will provide excellent customer service, be effective in building relationships with members of the community.
  • You will be part of an awesome team, working in a vibrant and busy retail environment.
  • You will also be responsible for the distribution of stock between stores, some trips to the tip, basic vehicle maintenance, assisting with management of inwards/outwards goods. There will also be opportunities to work within the store.

Person Specification

  • Full and clean NZ Drivers Licence and be Physically fit
  • Well presented, Honest, trustworthy and reliable.
  • Proven good communication skills, and a good telephone manner.
  • Good time management, and able to work cooperatively and productively within a team.
  • Able to relate to a wide range of people, and have initiative and good problem solving skills
  • Committed to the mission of the Salvation Army.
  • Integrity of character.
  • Good knowledge of quality improvement processes.


This is a fixed term position for 12 months ( 28 hrs p/w, Mon-Fri).
