The opportunity

Are you in the middle of completing your diploma of civil engineering and looking for practical experience?  Or completing year 12 or 13 and looking for a great career?  We have an opportunity based in our Balclutha office for a civil technician or cadet to assist our team as our on-going work expands in 2019.

To support you to achieve your potential, Stantec will pay your tuition fees.  Once you have graduated, there is the opportunity to join our graduate development training, as well as joining the Young Professionals Group which is very active across the country.  We also provide in-house training and assign you a mentor for guidance and support.  You'll develop your skills in civil engineering through practical experience such as field inspections, undertaking design under supervision, assisting with maintenance of asset management systems and contract administration, plus supporting project managers with various tasks.

About you

  • Be developing skills in Civil Engineering through completion of papers towards the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering or interested in pursuing a career in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 48 NCEA Level 2 credits in best 4 subjects including Maths, Graphics and a Science related subject.
  • An interest in Civil Engineering
  • Ability for and open to further learning, including being disciplined with good study habits
  • Current full Drivers licence
  • Sound computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
