Project Clutha is a group for enthusiastic locals to make social and professional connections. We get together at least once every 2 months on a weeknight between 5:30-7:00pm. Updates and events are posted to our Facebook page - follow us to keep in the loop.
When it comes time to co-ordinate projects, our get-togethers are about sharing ideas and connections to make great things happen in Clutha, such as the annual Big River Raft Race & Festival. By bringing diverse skills together and teaming up, we can develop other successful projects in the Clutha community.
Big River Raft Race & Festival is an annual fun-filled day out on our amazing Clutha River. Contestants enter a home-constructed raft to paddle their team 20km down the river between Clydevale and Balclutha. The Balclutha Bridge marks the finish line and the festival is held on the riverbank there. Many local groups and businesses are involved and the race raises funds for local community groups, usually LandSAR and Surf Life Saving Club who help out on the day with their safety expertise.
Being a relatively small community, we understand how difficult it can be to make connections between tight-knit social groups and we especially want to welcome those who are new to the area. We make our get-togethers an experience where you can be included and have your place in the community. Friendship is important to Project Clutha, we're an anti-clique!
Project Clutha organises and shares opportunities for professional development and to empower you to engage with the community. Between local leaders speaking at our get-togethers and workshops to inspire and expand your skills, there is a lot to be gained from getting involved with Project Clutha.
If you like the sound of this, then send us a message and introduce yourself. We'll make sure you can come along to one of our get-togethers for some drinks and nibbles with our circle of friends!
